There were real problems in the 70’s

So I know I’ve shared my love for vintage things-books, toys, etc.  I found this yesterday and couldn’t help but wonder about our recent concern with polluted drinking water.  Apparently some people are concerned about the rising incidence of disposed pharmaceuticals in drinking water.  Let me tell you- it was a problem 30 years ago. Acid heads from the 70’s flushed all the evidence and it ended up in the drinking water of a certain publishers press room.  See for yourself >>>ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Pick me! Pick me! said the Little Pine Tree

I imagined that’s what this tree was saying to the trail blazers looking for a tree on which to paint AT markers.  An unseasonably mild and beautiful day to hike at Bears Den, a section of the Appalachian Trail in Northern Virginia near the West Virginia border.  Passages from Bill Bryson’s  “A Walk in the Woods” ran through my head as I hiked.  I feel fortunate to be near such awesome scenery.ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Playing with pictures

I so admire the work of and am inspired by Seth Snap – I’ve tried to work with what limited knowledge and tools I have to alter the color and saturation of pictures. ImageImage

Raptors for posterity

Image

Ok, not a raptor, but he’s thinkin he wants to be.

Posting every day has been a challenge-maybe I should rename “challenge”to “goal” and it would be more palatable.  Since I’m sure no one, including me, wants to see pictures of flannel pajamas or pants hems in posterity, today I’m sharing a small stash of raptor pictures I’ve been taking.ImageImageImageImageImage
